Gyem is the Director of the Bhutan Food and Drug Authority, Ministry of Health. She has a MSc in Agriculture Systems and Engineering from the Asian Institute of Technology in Bangkok, Thailand. Her professional journey began as a quality manager at the National Food Testing Laboratory and later took on leadership positions such as the Chief of Food Quality and Safety Division and the Plant and Animal Quarantine Division at the Bhutan Agriculture and Food Regulatory Authority. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated dedication and leadership in the domains of food safety, biosecurity and laboratory management.
