Project/Proposal :

In Bhutan, coffee plantation has strong potential due to favorable climate, organic farming practices, and growing demand for specialty coffee in both local and international markets

Project/Proposal : KNZ

KNZ Centralized Milk Processing Unit is a dairy plant established in collaboration with the Trongsa Dzongkhag Administration and dairy farmers across the Dzongkhag. KNZ is an initiative aimed at strengthening and enhancing the livelihoods of dairy farmers in Trongsa.

The concept was developed with the vision of positioning Trongsa as a pilot dairy hub in Bhutan. Blessed with a pristine environment of alpine and broadleaf forests, Trongsa has long been known for its high-quality dairy produce.

It took three years of sustained effort to bring together this extensive consortium of government agencies, farmer groups, and the private sector, overcoming significant challenges along the way. KNZ recognizes the dairy industry as a major opportunity, particularly in light of the substantial volume of dairy products imported into Bhutan each year. Looking ahead, KNZ also envisions exporting premium dairy products derived from Himalayan grass-fed cows, positioning Bhutanese dairy in high-value markets.

The plant will initially produce a range of products, including cheddar cheese, butter, Greek yogurt, fresh milk, and paneer. Now in its fourth year of development, the KNZ dairy plant is expected to be completed by June 2026, with operations scheduled to commence in September 2026.
