Yoering-Ma is a Bhutan-based social enterprise addressing food waste while strengthening the organic agriculture sector. It collects biodegradable waste and converts it into high- quality vermicompost through sustainable composting and earthworm-based systems. This process improves soil health, supports organic farming, and reduces greenhouse gas emissions from landfill waste.

Despite Bhutan’s strong environmental focus, urban food waste management and access to quality organic fertilizers remain challenges. Yoering-Ma addresses both by transforming waste into valuable agricultural inputs, promoting a circular economy that benefits farmers, nurseries, and urban gardeners.

Investment will support mechanization, increasing efficiency, reducing labor intensity, and scaling production capacity. This will enable greater waste diversion and wider distribution of organic fertilizer. Funding will also enhance sustainable packaging and workforce capacity.

Overall, Yoering-Ma aims to expand its waste-to-resource model, improve agricultural productivity, and contribute to a more sustainable and resilient green economy in Bhutan.
